Georges-Emmanuel Schneider can already look back upon an active international Soloist career around the world, through Europe and from Brazil to Japan. A series of his recordings will be released in 2010 in collaboration with the label Classic Concert Records. He celebrated the Mozart Year 2006 as a chamber musician and performed all 23 of Mozart’s string quartets in Salzburg, hometown of the composer.
Schneider has a broad and varied soloist repertoire. He is also much sought after as an interpreter of contemporary music and especially first releases. In Japan, he has contributed to research work on new violin construction methods led by the Yamaha firm.

Schneider develops a very expressionist musical style with his violin. He takes care to match his interpretation to the particular atmosphere of each composition. Depending on the score, his violin’s voice can be grandiose or humorous and spontaneous, introvert or extrovert. Schneider stores the various emotions of the music and lets them live on in the heart of the audience. Schneider is one of the few interpreters who make a classical concert into a deeply moving and delightful event. More than most violinists, Georges-Emmanuel Schneider knows how to make his instrument take on the rhythm and character of the Tango Argentino. « One of the best violinists of his generation, if not the best» Kurt Pahlen commented in spring 2003.

Georges-Emmanuel Schneider was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1980. Already as a young boy, he developed a special interest for the violin. Very soon, he came to the attention of Edmond de Stoutz (died in 1996), founder and director of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, who subsequently oversaw his musical education. He personally introduced the child in a playful manner to the intensive musical life of the Concert Hall, “Tonhalle”, in Zurich. Later on, Edmond de Stoutz recommended him to his first violinist Zbigniew Czapczynski (died in 2000). Thus, Georges-Emmanuel Schneider benefited by the strict teaching of Mischa Wajman’s school in former Leningrad.

As a 15 years old, Schneider met the violinist Ruggiero Ricci who invited him to take the audition for the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where he was admitted to the class of the American virtuoso. During six years, Schneider belonged to the youngest and most promising students of Ruggiero Ricci.

At the age of 21, he founded the chamber Orchestra I Sinfonietti 01 with R. Ricci as president of honour. The well-received debut took place in the Opera House of Zurich, where Schneider was acknowledged both as a producer and as a soloist. He was 23, when he founded the “Metamorphosis” Festival in the Bernese Oberland, where he performed a beautiful recital including a Korean first release, accompanied by the concert pianist Eung-Gu Kim.

As a 26 years old, he finalized his studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with an accolade as a musician and soloist. He attended numerous master classes given by Ruggiero Ricci, Ana Chumachenco, Mikhail Gantvarg, Igor and Valeri Oistrakh, Viktor Pikaizen, Pierre Amoyal and Richard Pieta.

Since 2008, Georges-Emmanuel Schneider has given his playing new space and richness of sound in his surprising sonata and dance concerts, performed in Japan, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland. He has rediscovered the virtuoso repertoire of his main mentor Ruggiero Ricci.
