5 warm voices, 5 young singers full of humor, happyness and dynamism.
Staged songs and  dances.  Their way of singing is different.  Their gesture, their sounds, their expressivity, their colours.   These are the characteristics of those 5 young Ugandans, who have performed as the eldest of the Uganda Natumayini Choir (a humanitarian choir that helps orphan children in Uganda) , having performed over 250
concerts already, and having also performed with OMUTIMA GWA AFRIKA in over 50 concerts.

Aba TaanoThe artists of Aba Taano (which in Luganda means “The Five”) live normally in Uganda and sing in  Swahili, Luganda, Fang, Zulu, Lutoro, Acholi and Runyancore among others songs of their ancestors.  Together with Uganda Natumayini and Omutima Gwa Afrika, they have performed in many prestigious halls, in Uganda and in Spain such as Teatro Real, Auditorio Reina Sofía in Madrid, Baluarte in Pamplona, Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao,  Casa Encendida in Madrid, Teatro Central y Lope de Vega in Sevilla. Teatro Principal of Orense, Teatro Falla of Cádiz, Teatro Circo in Albacete, Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos in Teruel, Teatro Palau de la Música in Barcelona, etc.

As Aba Taano, they have performed in Madrid, Segovia, Avila, Santander, Aranjuez, Bilbao, Barcelona  and have represented Africa at the Pavillon of Africa during the International Expo of Zaragoza for one full week in August  2008, 8 times a day.  They have had a series of concerts in Spain in May 09 and a week in Holland, creating a raving ABA TAANO effect (i.e. an incredible enthusiasm from the public, giving 4 and 5 encores for each concert, with a standing ovations in the middle of the concert, or after the third song…. And people staying there without wanting to go at the end….) In Holland they performed in Muiderberg, Bewewick, Wyij Biy Duurnstede, Lochem and Hillversum.
In November they have been in Estonia, (5 concerts in the biggest halls there), and Spain and in December 2009 they will be in Hungary and Canary Islands.   2010 will see them in Canada, Slovakia and Tcheque Republic.

They have recorded different programmes for the Radio of Aragon in Zaragoza, Vaughan Radio in Madrid, National Spanish Radio (Radio 3)  and la SER in Madrid as well as for the National Dutch Radio.

They do everything with their voices, melody, accompaniment etc.  They perform with microphones (headsets) or without.  They perform on very big stages but can also perform in churches, small halls, private parties etc..
They are full of joy and enthusiasm, they sing and even dance on stage.

They are very very beautiful and the people all fall in  LOVE with them.  Most of the time, after every concert people try to get to them by way of Facebook, or whatever way… normally they have many fans at the door waiting for signatures.  They are a real success.  They sing in many many languages, they do a lot of Zulu songs, Traditional gospel, original songs from Uganda composed by our artistic director, etc.. In general, the programme is very original and cannot be compared to other programmes of children of Uganda.

My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it,
and you simply take as much as you require.
