SALZBURGER Saitenklang was founded in 1992 by the renowed austrian zither-soloist WILFRIED SCHARF.
The ensemble – comprising zither, harp and guitar - is at first sight a traditional austrian "Stubenmusik" - but on closer examination you meet an ensemble which is famous for breathtaking performances with their synthesis of period and modern string instruments.
Daniel Wirtz, born in 1979, decided to learn guitar at the age of ten. On his instrument as well as in numerous compositions he combines elements of Jazz, classical and traditional music.
Stefan Görgner was born in 1979 in Starnberg and started studying concert guitar under Harald
Lillmeyer at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich.
After studying rock, jazz and Contemporary Music he finally found his way into the music of the Baroque era.

Reentko Dirks is a guitarist, composer and studio musician. His music is a distinctive blend of unorthodox, self-developed percussive playing techniques covering a wide range of styles. He is one of the few guitarists who can claim to be every bit as much in demand in the classical world as in the pop and world music scenes. He also features as a percussionist in some of the ensembles he performs with.
Reentko Dirks and Daniel Wirtz met for the first time in the year 2000 at the beginning of their studies with Prof. Thomas Fellows in Dresden and, in the same year, formed the duo “DirksundWirtz”.
Joaquin Clerch was born in 1965 in Havana and from childhood studied the guitar with Leopoldina Nuñez. He continued his study at the National School of Arts and then at the Instituto Superior de Arte. His teachers were Marta Cuervo, Antonio Rodriguez, Rey Guerra, Costas Cotsiolis, Leo Brouwer and for composition Carlos Fariñas among others.
José Miguel Moreno was born in Madrid and started studying music at the age of 4. During his period of formation, he won, among others, the First Prize of the Incontri Chitarristici di Garnano (Italy 1977). He specializes in historical interpretation, although his repertoire ranges from XVIth to XXth century.
My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it,
and you simply take as much as you require.
