SALZBURGER Saitenklang was founded in 1992 by the renowed austrian zither-soloist WILFRIED SCHARF.

The ensemble – comprising zither, harp and guitar - is at first sight a traditional austrian "Stubenmusik" - but on closer examination you meet an ensemble which is famous for breathtaking performances with their synthesis of period and modern string instruments.

Stefan Görgner was born in 1979 in Starnberg and started studying concert guitar under Harald
Lillmeyer at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich.
After studying rock, jazz and Contemporary Music he finally found his way into the music of the Baroque era.

Rainer Stegmann was born in Mainhausen-Mainflingen near Aschaffenburg, Germany, and began playing the guitar as a 12-year-old. In his youth he concentrated on Rock and Jazz as well as classical music, but after completing his secondary schooling dedicated himself completely to classical guitar. He studied in Frankfurt am Main at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst and at Dr.-Hoch´s Konservatorium. He was especially influenced by participation in master classes given by the Assad Duo and Manuel Barrueco.

SANTE TURSI was born in Bari (Italy), where he studied at the "N. Piccinni" Music Academy, obtaining the diplom summa cum laude. He is also graduated in Philosophy summa cum laude.
He continued his studies with Alirio Diaz, Josè Tomàs and Manuel Barrueco.
Then he studied three years with Oscar Ghiglia at the Chigiana Academy in Siena (Italy) with a scolarship and there was awarded three diplomas of merit.

Reentko Dirks is a guitarist, composer and studio musician. His music is a distinctive blend of unorthodox, self-developed percussive playing techniques covering a wide range of styles. He is one of the few guitarists who can claim to be every bit as much in demand in the classical world as in the pop and world music scenes. He also features as a percussionist in some of the ensembles he performs with.

Joaquin Clerch was born in 1965 in Havana and from childhood studied the guitar with Leopoldina Nuñez. He continued his study at the National School of Arts and then at the Instituto Superior de Arte. His teachers were Marta Cuervo, Antonio Rodriguez, Rey Guerra, Costas Cotsiolis, Leo Brouwer and for composition Carlos Fariñas among others.

José Miguel Moreno was born in Madrid and started studying music at the age of 4.  During his period of formation, he won, among others, the First Prize of the Incontri Chitarristici di Garnano (Italy 1977). He specializes in historical interpretation, although his repertoire ranges from XVIth  to XXth century.
