The project Hermosuras (Beauties, translated from the Spanish and the Sardinian languages) was born from the title of a successful CD by the Janas Ensemble, directed by Paola Erdas. Hermosuras is now a renewed group of ancient music with whom the harpsichordist made her debut in Lyon on December 15th, 2005, under the aegis of the Italian Cultural Institute.
Inspired by the compactness and effectiveness in the cre- ative processes of the great string quartets, Quadro Janas aims to renew and enliven the expressive traditions of early music. Research, improvisation, memory, and creativity blend together in interpretations capable of passionate lyri- cism and breathtaking virtuosity.
Dorothee Oberlinger is one of the most amazing discoveries of recent years, an expressive virtuoso who - quite rightly - received numerous awards while still quite young. Today she is seen as one of the best recorder-players in the world. Her concerts have been received with enthusiasm by critics and audiences alike, earning her unanimous acclaim. Her CDs are regularly fêted as the best new issues on the market.
Maria Loos won the young people's music prize "Jugend musiziert" several times and she won the second prize of the Sammartini contest. She studied the recorder with Irmgard Waidosch at the Mozarteum and music and dance at the Orff-Institute in Salzburg. A two year scholarship took her to the College for Music and Theatre in Leipzig where she continued her studies under Professor Robert Ehrlich. She passed her graduation recital with distinction and completed master classes with Han Tol, Karel van Steenhoven, Gerd Lünenbürger, John Tyson and Carin van Heerden.
RAYUELA was founded in spring 2004 by Claudia Gerauer, Martina Joos and Thomas Engel. The three recorder-players had studied with Kees Boeke and Matthias Weilenmann at the Zurich School of Music, Drama and Dance.
My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it,
and you simply take as much as you require.
