MATIZ DUO were founded three years ago when Argentinian folk singer, Julia Savslasky, met Hugo Cantini, an Italian classical pianist… and it was the beginning of their musical pursuit.
MATIZ DUO use Argentinian Tango and Jazz as an opportunity to make something new, looking for new sounds and a fusion of cultural elements. They base their work on improvisation and originality, ranging from Piazzolla, Gardel, Exposit, to Gershwin, Monk and Ellington.
During their partnership, Julia and Hugo have performed a lot of concerts, in many different locations. Their success is born from Julias' warm and unusual voice, and Hugos' overflowing pianism; ingredients that create something unique and unrepeatable with every performance .
