Classical accordion duo - Acco Duo, present a combination of charismatic instruments and repertoire that showcase the artists' heritage and training. Theirs lively program presents an authentic picture of European chamber music tradition and culture. The sound of Acco Duo is dynamic, unique, humorous... superb combine for an exhilarating performance.
The interpretations of the two young musicians from Croatia prove their unique ability to combine repertoire which extends from classical to contemporary and includes own arrangements.
Their musical partnership has resulted in a unique repertoire and as a duo they have toured Europe extensively and collaborated on a CD Romance.
Acco Duo was recently a laureate of 2008 IBLA Grand Prize World Competition in Sicily – Italy, winner of Special Schnittke Award.
IVANA LEVAK VAUPOTIĆ
An active chamber musician and teacher, presenting dynamic and personal performances, was born in Zagreb in 1979, where she obtained primary and secondary musical education. Ivana graduated in 2003 with a degree in Theory of Music along with vocal and orchestral conducting with eminent conductor, Maestro Miroslav Homen, most prominent opera conductor on teritory of ex-Yugoslavia. In 2004, Ivana completed her studies in Classical accordion with distinguished professor Slavko Magdić, both of which are on the Faculty of Arts in Pula. Presently, she serves on the faculty at Franjo Lučić – Arts School as professor of classical accordion. As soloist and member of chamber ensembles she has been won numerous awards. Ivana has performed in Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Croatia. She attended specialization courses with world-famous accordionists such as P. Soave (USA), O. Murray (Great Britain), J. Shishkin (Russia) and A. Skliarov (Russia). During her studies she also performed as conductor of Academic Choir and Orchestra of Pula’s Faculty of Arts.
MIRAN VAUPOTIĆ
Miran Vaupotić was born in 1982 in Zagreb, Croatia, and began to study accordion (bayan) at the age of 7. He studied at the Ino Mirkovich Music Academy under licence of Moscow State Conservatory P.I. Tchaikovsky in Lovran and Faculty of Arts in Pula where he graduated in 2005. Presently teaches at the Zagreb Zlatko Baloković Music School – College.
He is the LAUREATE of All-Croatian Competitions, Pula Accordion International Competition 1999, 2003 Confédération Mondiale de L'Accordéon - CMA - Trophée Mondial de l'Accordéon in Italy, the Grand Prize winner of Music GOLDEN TROPHY 2007 International Competition in New York, 1st prize winner of the International Festival InterArtia 2008 Music Competition in Volos, Greece. He is declared as Artist of the Year 2008 by International Art Society.
Miran performed with known chamber and symphony orchestras and collaborated with contemporary composers.
In recent time inspired by the music of Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, Miran began including characteristic bandoneón in his performances.
