In 2002 his voice was discovered and trained by Tim Hennis, and in 2003, he began his studies of vocal music for opera under Professor Christina Wartenberg at the University of Music and Theatre Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig, which he completed with a »Diplom« degree in 2008.
He received further musical inspiration for his singing through master classes with Howard Crook, Julie Hassler, Barbara Schlick, Ton Koopman and Andreas Scholl.
He has worked with conductors such as Christopher Moulds, Hermann Max and Thomaskantor Georg Christoph Biller, and with ensembles such as Neue Düsseldorfer Hofmusik, La Dolcezza, Elbipolis, the Baroque Orchestra Göttingen and Ensemble Arcimboldo. He has also given performances at the Händel Festival in Halle, the Ekhof Festival in Gotha as well as the Styriarte festival in Graz.
His repertoire includes a solo song recital in which he sings and plays the guitar. It premiered at the international music festival »Gandersheimer Dommusiktage«.
Besides concert performances, he dedicates increasingly more time to theatre and opera work.
Whenever his schedule allows it, Stefan Görgner spends his time composing. His compositions to date include vocal works as well as chamber music. His choir piece »Muoa oder zur Sonne und zurück« premiered at the museum’s anniversary celebrations »100 Jahre Deutsches Museum« in Munich.
He is planning for further CD productions with Salzburg Barock and the soprano Julla von Landsberg in the near future.
