In the spring of 2004 the trio's many years of intensive work with other musicians culminated in the formation of the RAYUELA ensemble. Its programmes always include the three recorders, while other instruments are added depending on the particular programme.RAYUELA made its debut with the programme "Changes" (in the monastery church of St. Gerold, Austria) in May 2004, which was recorded by Austrian radio. It delighted the audience and critics alike:
"…In a great sweep through time and space, the ensemble presented technical aspects of Early Music composition in a quality performance that was meticulously put together… The uncompromising programme was challenging for the audience. We seldom experience such a high level of artistry…"
(from the newspaper 'Vorarlberger Nachrichten')
In June 2004 the programme was recorded on CD.
The members of RAYUELA gained their degrees at leading European music colleges (Zurich, Vienna, Basle and Trossingen) and have been playing in various internationally renowned Early Music ensembles for many years.
In its programmes the ensemble wishes to trace the changes that music has undergone in the course of time, and to bring works that are sometimes centuries apart into relation with one another. The starting point for the work of RAYUELA is the music from the period before 1650, most of which is not scored for particular instruments and therefore leaves a great deal of freedom for experimenting with different arrangements.
