Maria Loos won the young people's music prize "Jugend musiziert" several times and she won the second prize of the Sammartini contest. She studied the recorder with Irmgard Waidosch at the Mozarteum and music and dance at the Orff-Institute in Salzburg. A two year scholarship took her to the College for Music and Theatre in Leipzig where she continued her studies under Professor Robert Ehrlich. She passed her graduation recital with distinction and completed master classes with Han Tol, Karel van Steenhoven, Gerd Lünenbürger, John Tyson and Carin van Heerden.

She played solo parts in concerts with the Gewandhaus orchestra and the Thomanerchor in Leipzig, the Salzburg Hofmusik and the Leopold Mozart chamber orchestra among others. Her ensembles Trio Thalia and Spirit of Musicke gained Europe-wide attention through a series of classical music concerts and festivals. The ensemble Trio Thalia received an award for Best Ensemble 2000 in a series of early music concerts in Vienna; she also played this piece at a guest appearance in the programme Early music Morbach live by the radio station Freies Berlin. She also appeared in the programme Lange Nacht der Alten Musik, Ö1. Maria Loos has distinguished herself in various baroque ensembles, for example Bell'-Arte in Salzburg, Marini Consort in Innsbruck, Per Ludum in Vienna and the Würzburg Bachcollegium.

Concert engagements took the artiste to classical music festivals: Festival of Early Music Innsbruck, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Days of Early Music Osnabrück, Series of Early Music Vienna, Soloist Concerts Villach and Salzburg. In the arena of modern music one of her main focal points is working with dancers. Maria Loos has performed in CD and radio recordings for several broadcasting stations (ORF, WDR, MDR, SFB, B4) and is a lecturer in international courses. Last year she recorded Spirit of Musicke for a CD entitled Women4Baroque, female baroque composers. In 2005, she is engaged at the Salzburger Festspiele and gives concerts in among others Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Münster, Saarbrücken, Salzburg, Bregenz, Innsbruck and Madrid. In 2006/7 she was invited to give concerts and master courses in South America and in Florida, USA. In 2008 she was „Artist in Residence“ of the IUP-Festivals in Pittsburgh.

My idea is that there is music in the air, music all around us; the world is full of it,
and you simply take as much as you require.
